Having tinkered with computers since the 70s getting them to do things they should and shouldn't, I ended up working for Microdeal in the 80s, writing games for the ZX Spectrum while studying at school.

I then spent an exciting 10 years running personal and professional development programmes predominantly using the outdoors. Working for Raleigh International, Outward Bound and freelancing, I was lucky enough to lead adventurous expeditions to 4 continents, evading gun toting bandits, extreme weather and kidnap happy drug lords.

Leading an expedition to Ecuador, my group and I found ourselves at the epicenter of a 7.1 magnitude earthquake. At this point I decided a safer career was to be found back in tech. Nominative determinism ensured that I spent some years running a web development business, taking a Scottish bus tour company from zero to over one million pounds in online revenue and helping charity "Frankwater" disrupt the bottled water industry and supply clean drinking water to over half a million people. I retrained in 2017 to move into cyber security and I currently work in cyber threat intelligence for the NatWest Group where I track the malicious work of cyber criminals and nation states. I hold a GIAC GSEC, GCIH and GCTI qualification.

I work as an advisor to a couple of "not for profit" organisations and a tech company in the blockchain space. When not working, I'll get out on the paddle board or continue my efforts to crack surfing.
